Dr. Harmesh Kumar is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 42 years of experience in the field of mental health. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area and Central Valley, California, he is the Founder and President of South Asian Behavioral Health & Training Foundation (DBA Mind Body Wellness Center)— a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting mental wellness, emotional healing, and culturally responsive care for diverse communities.
Dr. Kumar served as a Psychologist with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) from 2019 to 2024, working in the Acute Psychiatric Program (PIP). He continues to provide mental health consultation to various skilled nursing, assisted living facilities and private businesses, helping to manage challenging behaviors among residents and staff and improve overall workplace wellness.
A compassionate community leader, Dr. Kumar has volunteered thousands of hours in public service and interfaith initiatives. He has served as Chair of the Human Relations Commission for the City of Concord, Executive Committee Member of the Interfaith Council of Contra Costa County, and Trustee of the Ik Onkar Peace Foundation. He also founded the Annual Diversity Festival (Baisakhi) in Concord to foster cultural understanding and social harmony.
His outstanding contributions have been recognized with numerous honors, including the Hind Rattan (Jewel of India) Award, a Certificate of Recognition from the California State Senate, and commendations from President Bill Clinton and several U.S. government bodies for his professional excellence and community service.
